My partner works at a TB. The chicken, steak, salads, and corn shells are okay for most people we know with gluten SENSITIVITIES. The ground beef and potatoes are NOT OKAY. You can order a taco, or even a Dorito taco (which are always GFree) and ask for chicken or steak instead of ground beef. :)

I was just diagnosed with the Celiac 2 weeks ago and I am a manager at Taco Bell so I have been looking at all of the ingredients on the boxes that all the food comes in and I have yet to find anything that does not contain gluten. I did talk with the corporate office and asked them to look more into it for me but I do know that there is a huge huge huge risk of cross contamination with any kind of allergy to anything that is there. Unless you inform the person taking your order that you are allergic to something most of the people will use the same gloves on your food as they did the last. I actually had one person that was allergic to tomatoes order her tacos with out them and the cooks not thinking just went ahead making the order off of the line. Well thankfully the customer found one little one at the top of her taco and came back to have it redone. So I myself said i will bring it to you in a minute let me get all fresh pans of food and sanitze my line and then i will make it for you so i know that you are safe. But anywhere that is a fast food place most of the time they only think about getting the food out fast because they are fast food. Not everyone will say they are allergic to it. I hope this helps.. I am not trying to get people to stop going to my resturant I am just more concerned that everyone is safe with what they eat. I like my job and would love to have everyone come in and eat there but i am all about the health there.

BTW, I've never been able to find out definitively if the tostada red sauce contains gluten (there allergen info is not very detailed!!) but we just stay on the safe side.

We order the tostada without the red sauce and then use the hot sauce packets to sauce it up - which is just fine because the red sauce is kind of gravy-like anyway so I don't really care for it. Just don't use the Fire sauce b/c it has gluten.

I have always HATED Taco Bell, but I'm 6 weeks pregnant and the cravings are bad when i'm not retching. My husband and I drove past a Taco Bell last night and I suddenly wanted all their crappy food all at once....this is a good deterrent ;) thanks all!

Taco Bell says their red sauce has a yeast extract that contains gluten. I believe this is the red sauce on the tostadas and beans. I ate the tostadas, had a reaction and unfortunately checked after the fact. I should have known because some canned enchilada sauces have wheat.
